Job summary

Arcwood Environmental is seeking a Field Chemist to sort and transport hazardous and non-hazardous waste, ensuring safety and regulatory compliance during all service activities. You will report to the Field Office and travel to projects in the region, returning to the office each day, handling material segregation, packing, paperwork, and customer liaison on site.

Qualifications

• Associates degree required; Bachelor's preferred.
• In lieu of degree, 2+ years of related experience required.
• Valid Driver's License and ability to obtain a Class B CDL with Hazmat endorsement within 6 months of hire.
• Ability to pass Motor Vehicle Record check to company standards.
• Due to exposure to atmospheres/waste/materials, must be clean shaven to don respirator.

Responsibilities

• Prioritizes health and safety by adhering to policies, processes, and maintaining safe practices at all times
• Assists in segregating chemicals by hazard class and packs materials for transport; completes paperwork for each job
• Determines and loads supplies needed for job completion and travels to projects to perform lab pack services
• Assists in characterizing materials at field project sites
• Adheres to placarding and load segregation requirements when transporting hazardous materials
• Develops good customer relations by communicating with site contacts at customer locations
• Directs Field Technicians / Drivers assisting with waste collection
• Maintains introductory knowledge of high-hazard materials management / cylinder handling
• Maintains ability to travel to support outside locations as needed
• Takes on additional duties as assigned to support the team and organization
