Job summary

Infrastructure Consulting & Engineering, LLC (ICE) invites CEI Interns for a 12-week summer program in South Carolina. The CEI Intern assists with monitoring, testing, and conformance on roads, bridges, and utilities, under supervision of a senior engineer, gaining hands-on field inspection and project management experience.

Applicants must be enrolled in Civil Engineering or related fields and be prepared for site work.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma required.
• Enrolled in an accredited college degree program in Civil Engineering or related discipline (Junior or Senior preferred).
• Current driver’s license with a safe 3-year driving record.
• Prior internship experience preferred but not required.
• Previous experience and working knowledge of AutoCAD preferred.
• Good oral and written communication skills desired.
• Organization and planning skills required.
• Demonstrated ability to work well individually and in a team.
• Demonstrated interest and ambition to learn and work in a fast-paced industry.

Responsibilities

• Assist with monitoring, testing and conformance of client/contractor work on various projects to ensure plans, specifications, materials, traffic & erosion control devices, quality assurance and safety standards are met
• Perform engineering inspection activities such as construction observation, conducting field tests for concrete, asphalt, & earthworks under the supervision of a senior engineer
• Ensure all materials, procedures and safety rules comply with the latest DOT standards.
• Record daily construction inspection notes for CEI document management
• Assist engineers with development of spreadsheet tools
• Copy and scan project related drawings
• Other duties assigned by supervisor
