Job summary

North Dakota Department of Transportation in Bismarck, ND is seeking an Engineering Technician I–III to perform field inspections on construction projects, measure quantities, and prepare reports using MicroStation. You will work with GPS, drones, and CAD tools, and assist engineers with final records and district design tasks.

A valid ND driver’s license and ability to work outdoors in all weather are required.

Qualifications

• Engineering Technician III: 4+ years of related experience; degree may substitute on a year-for-year basis.
• Engineering Technician II: 2+ years of related experience; degree may substitute on a year-for-year basis.
• Engineering Technician I: High school diploma or GED required with basic understanding of job-related concepts.
• Ability to work outdoors in all weather and on uneven/slippery surfaces
• Valid North Dakota Class D driver's license

Responsibilities

• Conduct field inspections for construction projects to ensure compliance with plans and specs.
• Measure quantities and create reports and plan sheets using MicroStation.
• Perform tests on road and bridge materials to ensure ND DOT specifications.
• Assist engineers with final records and district design work using CAD tools.
