Job summary

The Pueblo of Sandia is seeking a Building Inspector to oversee construction projects and ensure compliance with local and national building codes, zoning regulations, and contract specifications.

Responsibilities include reviewing plans, issuing permits, conducting inspections, and coordinating with contractors to enforce code compliance across projects. The role requires knowledge of construction methods and strong communication skills.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma, GED Certification or equivalent.
• Minimum of five (5) years’ experience as a contractor, engineer, architect, or as a superintendent.

Responsibilities

• Enforces the provisions of building codes and has the authority to render interpretations of the codes.
• Receives applications, reviews plan documents and issues permits for construction and alteration, demolition, and moving of buildings and structures.
• Conducts inspections of the premises for which permits have been issued and enforces compliance with the provisions of the codes.
• Performs all required inspections and has the authority to accept reports of inspection by approved agencies or individuals.
• Secures expert opinion as deemed necessary to report upon unusual technical issues.
• Keeps official records of applications received, permits and certificates issued, fees collected, reports of inspections, and notices and orders issued.
• Inspects project for compliance with approved plans and specifications.
