Job summary

The Louisiana Department of Wildlife & Fisheries is seeking qualified candidates for a position in the Fisheries Research & Assessment Program, stationed at the Fisheries Research Laboratory on Grand Isle in Jefferson Parish. This semi-remote field station provides a staff dormitory during the work week.

Responsibilities include coordinating weekly sampling, managing large projects, analyzing data, and preparing technical reports.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in biological sciences with four years of relevant wildlife or fisheries experience.
• Non-thesis master’s degree in related field with three years of specialized experience.
• Master’s degree with thesis or Doctorate in related field plus two years of specialized experience.

Responsibilities

• Create weekly field and laboratory sampling schedules for staff.
• Coordinate with Biologist Manager to prioritize monitoring of state resources and regional programs.
• Manage large-scale research and monitoring projects.
• Summarize data and generate figures, analyses, and text for technical reports.
• Organize and maintain vehicles, vessels, and equipment.
• Maintain contact with field staff during multi-day sampling, weekends, and holidays.
• Participate in regional working groups as needed.
• Represent LDWF with professionalism in public events and forums.
