Job summary

Aquatics Associates in Fort Collins is seeking a Field Biologist to manage aquatic resources through seasonal visits. The role includes on-the-job training and ongoing education, with a minimum of 40+ hours per week during peak season, and potential overnight stays.

You will perform sampling, data entry, and support for product-related solutions, working with industry partners to develop customer projects and deliver high-quality service.

Responsibilities

  • Identify and manage aquatic vegetation using biological, chemical, and mechanical methods.
  • Assess lake/pond conditions and determine appropriate management protocols.
  • Perform water quality testing and sampling in lakes/streams; handle data entry.
  • Install and maintain aeration systems and related equipment.

Position Summary

The position will require a minimum of 40+ hours per week during our peak season. New Field Biologists will be provided on-the-job training for the needed skills and continuing education opportunities.

Responsibilities include managing customer's aquatic resources through regularly scheduled seasonal visits. Additional practices may include aquatic applications, water quality enhancement, aeration, etc. Field Biologists engage in thorough data entry and processing, providing detailed information on aquatic management. This role will analyze customers’ needs and provide technical support for products sold, as well as engage in problem solving by working with industry partners and developing solutions for customer projects and requests. This role may also be responsible for seasonal installation and removal of pond aeration equipment, as well as maintenance of fleet vehicles and application equipment.

Essential Duties
  • This position will focus on aquatic vegetation identification & management using biological, chemical, and mechanical methods.
  • Assessment of clients’ lake and/or pond with the ability to initiate the appropriate management protocol.
  • Sampling for aquatic life assessment, water quality, and sediment analysis in lakes and streams.
  • Transportation and stocking of live fish.
  • Macroinvertebrate sample processing in the lab.
  • Installation of aeration systems and decorative fountains.
Qualifications
  • Associate’s Degree or working towards an equivalent or higher in Biology, Water Resources, Fisheries related course study, or equivalent work experience.
  • Must be well organized, highly motivated, and willing to work well with a team of professionals.
  • Possess a current driver’s license with a clean driving record.
  • Ability to drive combination truck/trailer non-CDL capacity and operate motor vehicles for extended periods of time (experience through mountains/over passes preferred).
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule with some12-16 hour days.
  • Able to travel to job site with possible over-night stays as needed.
  • Ability to lift up-to 50 lbs.
  • Bend at waist and/or knees and lift arms at/over shoulder.
  • Ability to work extended hours in all weather conditions.
  • Ability to work out of small boats and be a strong swimmer.
