Aquatic Environment Consultants, Inc. is seeking hardworking individuals with an interest in working outdoors and on water. The position is full-time and involves field work on water bodies of varying sizes, largely conducted from a boat.
Responsibilities include applying aquatic herbicides and operating sampling equipment for water quality and fisheries management. Overnight travel is expected; weekends are rare.
Description: Aquatic Environment Consultants, Inc. (AEC) is one of the largest privately owned pond and lake management companies in the Mid-Atlantic region. AEC is involved in the management of thousands of acres of freshwater inland ponds and lakes. Our staff consists of fisheries biologists, aquatic biologists and aquatic technicians with a passion for the outdoors. Projects are located throughout Pennsylvania, Maryland, Virginia and West Virginia. AEC is a leader in the management of noxious aquatic vegetation, as well as harmful algae blooms. We also deal with water quality monitoring, fish population management and the aeration of water bodies.
AEC is looking for hardworking individuals with an interest in working outdoors and on water. We are looking for individuals with a background in biology, fisheries, limnology, environmental sciences or similar types of experience. The position is for fulltime employment. Work often requires 50 to 60 hours per week during the season. Workdays will take place Monday to Friday. Weekend work is a rare possibility. Overnight travel will be expected.
Responsibilities: The job consists of mostly working in the field on all sizes of water bodies from those that are less than an acre in size to some that are thousands of acres. The majority of the work will take place from a boat. Field work ranges from the application of aquatic herbicides to the operation of sampling equipment for water quality and fisheries management.
Qualifications: Undergraduate college degree in related field is preferred. A self-motivated individual with strong work ethic is expected. Ability to travel out of town and overnight is required. A valid driver’s license is required. The ability to drive large pickup trucks with trailers is preferred. Electrofishing and Aquatic pesticide application experience would be of great benefit to the candidate that meets the other expectations. Resumes will be kept confidential.
