Job summary

State of Alaska in Ketchikan, Alaska is seeking a full-time Social Services Associate to support assessments, case planning and evaluation. You will assist professional staff, provide parenting support during family contact, and help link families to other services to ensure safe, permanent homes and cultural connections.

You will travel 0–2 times monthly or yearly depending on caseload, work overtime during emergencies, and join a team committed to safety and well-being of children and families.

Qualifications

• One year of any combination of postsecondary or vocational education and/or experience in assisting clients, customers, the general public, or other staff in the explanation and application of guidelines, policies, or services.
• Ability to gather information for assessments, case planning and evaluation.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills for teamwork with diverse families and professionals.

Responsibilities

• Gather information for assessments, case planning and evaluation.
• Provide parenting support during family contact to help parents practice parenting skills in a safe environment.
• Access electronic databases and provide information to professional staff for referrals.
• Work with families and children to enhance their capacity for healthy, safe, and permanent homes.
• Travel 0–2 times a month or 0–2 times a year as needed for casework.
