Job summary

Piedmont Community Services seeks a Peer Recovery Support Specialist to provide non-clinical, peer-to-peer support promoting health, recovery and Wellness. Travel between Horizons program sites is required, with Martinsville as the primary work location.

Applicants must have at least one year of lived experience with substance use challenges and sustained personal recovery, plus Virginia PRSS certification or eligibility. A valid driver’s license and background checks are required.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year lived experience with substance use disorder and sustained personal recovery.
• Must be certified as a Peer Recovery Support Specialist in Virginia or eligible to obtain certification.
• Valid driver's license and safe driving record required.
• Willingness to travel between Horizons program sites; primary work location Martinsville Horizons program.

Responsibilities

• Provide non-clinical, peer-to-peer support to promote health, recovery, resiliency and wellness.
• Support individuals in navigating services and resources and achieve recovery goals.
• Assist with linkage to community resources and ongoing engagement in Recovery services.
• Participate in background checks and drug screening as part of the application process.
