Job summary

New York City Outward Bound Schools seeks a Logistics Coordinator to serve as the operational backbone of its outdoor adventure programs, ensuring transportation, equipment, gear, food, and supplies are ready to run safely and effectively. The role blends hands-on field work with planning and administrative tasks.

The position requires field presence, including overnight stays, and periodic work at the LIC headquarters for inventory, prep, and budgeting tasks.

Qualifications

• 1 year of logistics, operations, or field support in outdoor education preferred.
• Knowledge of backpacking, camping, and climbing equipment; basic field repairs.
• Experience planning meals for large groups and safe food handling.
• Valid U.S. driver’s license for at least 5 years; ability to drive in city and remote areas.
• Ability to work with diverse youth (ages 12–18+) and manage field logistics.
• Proficiency with Google Workspace and Microsoft Office; strong budgeting skills.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate transportation, equipment and supplies for programs.
• Procure, organize, maintain and repair program gear.
• Develop SOPs for gear management and field logistics.
• Liaise with vendors, facilities staff and program directors.
• Provide field logistics support during programs and overnight stays.
• Oversee food systems, meal prep, and dietary accommodations.
• Track expenses and maintain program budgets; ensure safety and compliance.
