Job summary

The Northern Indiana Educational Service Center (NIESC) seeks a Literacy Coaching Specialist to provide direct, job-embedded coaching and professional learning to school-based literacy coaches participating in the Indiana Department of Education's Literacy Coaching K–8 initiative. This role emphasizes translating the science of reading into classroom practice and building district capacity.

Qualifications

Minimum 5 years of classroom experience.
Minimum 2 years of experience as an instructional coach, interventionist, administrator, or in a literacy-related leadership role.
Bachelor’s degree in education, literacy, or a related field.
Teaching license, administrator license, or equivalent preferred.
Literacy qualification/credential/endorsement/degree preferred.

Responsibilities

Provide direct, job-embedded coaching and professional learning to school-based literacy coaches.
Translate the science of reading and structured literacy into high-quality classroom practice.
Strengthen coaching quality and fidelity and build sustainable school-level capacity.
Maintain required documentation and communicate regularly with stakeholders.
