Job summary

New Beginnings in Santa Barbara is seeking an Employment and Benefits Specialist for the PSH program. The role provides employment assistance, benefits navigation, and financial literacy support to participants across South County, based in the Santa Barbara office and in the community.

You will collaborate with PSH Case Managers, housing providers, and local agencies to connect participants with work opportunities, public benefits, education, and vocational resources, while maintaining

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Social Services or a related field.
Minimum of two years in employment services or a related field.
Experience with homelessness or vulnerable populations preferred.

Responsibilities

Identify employment opportunities and support participants in obtaining and maintaining work.
Assess employment readiness, identify barriers, and guide the job search.
Develop individualized goals to increase income and housing stability.
Refer participants to job readiness workshops, training, and education.
Assist with SSI/SSDI applications and SOAR model when appropriate.
Coordinate with PSH Case Managers and partners to access resources.
Maintain accurate participant records and HMIS data.
