Job summary

Wilson Construction Company is seeking an Environmental Scientist for our Rancho Cordova, CA offices. The role focuses on environmental permitting and compliance for electrical utility construction, with field monitoring, site work, and coordination with project teams.

The position requires travel, strong communication skills, and proficiency with MS Office. Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science or related field and valid driver's license are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Geology, Natural Resources, Biology, or another related field.
• Work experience in a related/relevant field (biology, storm water, geology, hydrology, etc.).
• Experience conducting and documenting field work.
• Stormwater experience or certifications preferred.
• Experience in environmental permitting or compliance, including CWA, RHA, ESA, Section 106, NEPA, CEQA, etc. preferred.
• Must have a valid state driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Conduct field monitoring and inspecting for environmental compliance (hydrocarbon spills, erosion and sediment control, sensitive resource mitigation).
• Tracking current bids and projects.
• Estimating and managing project environmental costs.
• Developing plans to meet mitigation requirements on a given project.
• Implementing erosion and stormwater controls at construction sites.
• Availability to travel as needed and spend extended periods of time at project locations distant from the Aurora office.
• Interaction and effective communication with all levels of Project Management staff, field superintendents, clients, and vendors.
