Texas Department of Family and Protective Services seeks a Family Based Safety Services Worker to assist families after investigations, delivering in-home services, coordinating resources, and supporting safety planning to protect children from abuse or neglect.

The role is full-time, requires travel up to 75%, flexible hours, and may be filled at levels I–IV depending on education and experience; higher starting salaries may be available for Master’s degree holders.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Social Work or related field.
• Experience in social services or protective services.
• Willingness to travel up to 60% and work flexible hours.

Responsibilities

• Responds quickly in crisis situations.
• Provides time-limited in-home services to meet family needs and develop treatment plans.
• Assesses child safety and takes actions to protect the child as appropriate.
• Interacts with caregivers who have abused or neglected children in their care.
• Discusses issues with families related to income, money management, and personal relationships.
• Helps identify resources and community support available to the family.
• Assists parents to recognize behaviors leading to abuse and empower change.
• Gathers family information to support placement and testifies in court when needed.
• Maintains documentation and completes forms timely.
