Job summary

Texas Department of Family and Protective Services (DFPS) is seeking a CPI Alternative Response Worker Trainee. This field-based role requires traveling to family locations to investigate reports of child abuse or neglect, assess risk, and coordinate services.

It is a mobile unit position with extensive documentation and cross-agency collaboration. New hires may receive specialized DFPS certifications and participate in advancement within the Alternative Response framework.

Qualifications

• Must be able to work full-time in field-based CPI investigations.

Responsibilities

• Interview children and families; assess safety and risk; coordinate with schools, law enforcement and courts.
• Maintain thorough documentation and case notes in required systems.
• Adapt to mobile field work and travel as needed.
