Job summary

Mid-Ohio Air Conditioning in Columbus, OH is seeking an Assistant Project Manager to own the operational execution of assigned projects under the Project Manager. This hands-on, field-facing role drives scheduling, manpower, change orders, and subcontractor management to support project milestones.

The role acts as a development path to Project Manager, with progression to full P&L ownership of small projects within 12–36 months and participation in continuous improvement initiatives.

Qualifications

• Associate or bachelor’s degree in construction management, mechanical engineering, engineering technology, or related field.
• Two+ years of experience in commercial construction in roles such as project engineer, assistant project manager, estimator, coordinator, or field leadership.
• Ability to read/interpret mechanical drawings, plans, specifications, and contract documents.
• Understanding of construction cost structure: labor, materials, equipment, subcontracting, and overhead.

Responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day operational execution of assigned projects under the Project Manager.
• Develop and maintain project schedules; coordinate scope with milestones and other trades.
• Forecast crew size and duration by phase; communicate changes early.
• Visit jobsites to verify work and support foremen with needed information.
• Lead or attend coordination meetings; represent MOAC professionally.
• Identify and resolve field conflicts and constructability issues before impacts.
• Support safety expectations and ensure crews have required equipment and plans.
• Drive punch list completion, startup, testing, balancing coordination, and owner training scheduling.
• Maintain project logs (submittals, RFIs, change orders, deliveries).
• Prepare monthly cost-to-complete projections and percent complete for reviews.
