Job summary

SWCA Environmental Consultants is seeking temporary Cultural Resources Technicians for our Pasadena office to support projects across Southern California, including Los Angeles, Inland Empire, and San Diego. The role involves fieldwork, artifact identification, and office tasks, with extensive travel and 90-100% field time.

Qualifications include a high school diploma or equivalent with at least 6 months of relevant experience, a valid driver's license, ability to lift 50 pounds, and willingness

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent and 6 months of relevant experience.
• Must have a valid driver's license, pass Motor Vehicle background screening, and have reliable transportation.
• Fieldwork for long hours in varied environments; lift up to 50 pounds.
• Available for local fieldwork and extended travel (hotel stays up to 2 weeks).
• Preferred: Bachelor's in Anthropology/Archaeology; Field School completion.

Responsibilities

• Assist with archaeological fieldwork including pedestrian survey and data collection.
• Identify historic and prehistoric artifacts and features.
• Support cultural resource records searches, lab tasks, and office work as needed.
• Adhere to safety program and mitigate hazards; work independently.
• Follow instructions, ask informed questions, and maintain professionalism.
