Onterris, Inc. seeks a Field Data Specialist – Archaeologist to support field surveys, monitoring, and data collection across Southern and Central California. The role is field-based with travel and an hourly pay rate of $27–$35, and requires own vehicle.

The position is part-time/temporary, with no benefits, but eligibility for PTO and opportunities to contribute to environmental projects that protect air, water, and soil. Applicants must qualify to work in the United States.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Archaeology, Anthropology, or related discipline.
• Field school completion or equivalent archaeology experience.
• At least 2 years of California field experience (survey, monitoring).
• Legally eligible to work in the United States.
• Valid driver’s license and own transportation; travel required.
• Proficiency with MS Office (Word/Excel) and related software.
• Experience with GPS, Field Maps, Survey123 or similar.
• Ability to define problems, collect data, and report findings.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Conduct pedestrian surveys, monitoring, and testing, including data collection and GPS mapping.
• Coordinate with construction crews on monitoring needs and schedules.
• Maintain project files and ensure confidentiality.
• Follow regulatory standards in environmental areas.
• Communicate findings to supervisors and clients.
• Follow safety training and PPE protocols.
