BGE, Inc. invites applications for a Field Archaeologist - Temporary Project Based position based in the Houston, TX office and surrounding areas.

The role involves conducting phase one surveys, shovel testing, and data collection under guidance of senior crew chiefs. You will travel regionally in North Texas and occasionally to Oklahoma, perform field data entry, and support report preparation while adhering to safety protocols.

Qualifications

• Career focus on cultural resources fieldwork in archaeological surveys or related environmental studies.
• Bachelor’s degree in anthropology or archaeology; field school experience preferred.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office; ability to record data accurately and prepare reports.

Responsibilities

• Conduct phase one archaeological surveys including pedestrian surveys and shovel testing.
• Assist with excavation and trenching activities in Texas and nearby regions.
• Collect and document field data using tablets, GPS, and maintain photo logs.
• Support preparation of reports and site documentation for projects.
• Collaborate with project leads to ensure accurate data and regulatory compliance.
• Communicate findings clearly to project managers and team members.
• Travel within North Texas and occasionally to other states; rain/heat conditions are expected.
