Job summary

A leading environmental consulting firm is seeking Archaeological Field Technicians to join their Cultural Resources team working across the Southeast. This role entails significant fieldwork in archaeological surveys and excavations, ideal for candidates with a degree in anthropology or archaeology. A strong attention to detail and experience with archaeological methods are vital. Candidates should expect travel and must possess a valid driver’s license. This position offers a dynamic working environment amidst committed environmental professionals.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of prehistoric and historic material culture.
• Ability to complete physically demanding tasks in remote areas.
• Frequent out-of-town travel, potentially for extended periods.

Responsibilities

• Conduct archaeological fieldwork tasks including survey and excavation.
• Clean, catalog, photograph, and label artifacts.
• Assist with laboratory research and analysis as needed.

Skills

Experience with completing inventory, survey, testing, and/or data recovery

Previous experience with mapping equipment and other special application equipment

Strong oral and written communication skills

Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Word and Excel

Detail oriented; resourceful; self-motivated; strong initiative

Positive and energetic attitude

Education

B.A./B.S. in anthropology/archaeology or related field

Successful completion of an archaeology field school

At least 6 months of experience conducting archaeological survey and excavation
