Job summary

Environmental Research Group, LLC (ERG) is seeking motivated Field Archaeologists to support cultural resource management (CRM) projects across Arizona. This role is ideal for early to mid-career professionals passionate about archaeology, fieldwork, and preserving cultural heritage.

ERG offers fieldwork opportunities, travel to remote locations, per diem lodging, and a collaborative team environment with emphasis on safety and ethics.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Anthropology, Archaeology, or related field.
• At least 3 months of field CRM or academic experience.
• Familiarity with GPS units, field mapping, and basic artifact identification.
• Ability to work outdoors in variable weather conditions and hike long distances with field gear.
• Willingness to travel to remote locations (with overnight stays) up to 100% of the time
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

• Conduct data recovery excavations and field surveys under supervision.
• Document field observations with notes, maps, and photographs.
• Use field equipment and digital data collection tools per procedures.
• Assist with artifact identification, processing, and cataloging in field and lab.
• Follow ERG safety protocols and ethics in all field activities.
• Collaborate with diverse teams in remote or rugged terrain.
• Maintain and organize field equipment and supplies.
• Participate in pre-field briefings and post-field debriefs.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
