Job summary

The Stanislaus County Assessor's Office is seeking a full-time Appraiser Technician to support appraisers in daily tasks both in the office and in the field. The role emphasizes learning, attention to detail, and self-reliance, with work arising in both office environments and on-site inspections.

Responsibilities include data verification, field data collection, building records maintenance, and assisting with annual property statements under supervision. A valid CA driver’s license is required.

Qualifications

• Completion of 60 semester units of college coursework: the equivalent of an Associate of Arts degree.
• Completion of 30 semester units of college coursework and at least one and a half years of cumulative work experience in accounting, bookkeeping, auditing, cost estimating, construction, real estate sales, or working in an Assessor's Office in California.
• A minimum of three (3) years of cumulative work experience in the areas listed in Pattern II.
• In addition to these patterns, applicants must possess and maintain a valid California Driver's License.

Responsibilities

• Perform office work and field inspections of a para-professional nature in an appraisal unit of the Assessor's office and related or other work as required in accordance with Rule 3, Section 3 of the Civil Service Rules.
• Make public contact for the purpose of gathering field data; measure and draw residences, collect data on quality, age, condition, construction characteristics, lot size, and related site drawings.
• Review, verify, correct, and post value information submitted by property owners concerning personal property, leased equipment, construction costs, boats, and non-commercial aircraft.
• Assist with the processing of annual property statements.
• Verify accuracy of assessment data entered into computer files.
• Compare and proof information for completeness and correctness and adjust records.
• On-site inspections to identify characteristics like rooms, lot size, landscaping, and construction details.
• Prepare/update building records and scale drawings.
