Job summary

GRAINCO FS, Inc. is seeking a Custom Field Operator in Lostant, IL. The role involves applying fertilizers, crop protection products, and lime, inspecting fields, and maintaining equipment under the direction of the Location Manager.

You will manage inventory, record application data, and perform soil sampling and field checks to ensure accuracy and safety. A CDL and commercial applicator license are required or obtainable, with a strong emphasis on safe operations and compliance.

Qualifications

• Previous applicator or related experience and/or training in custom applying fertilizers, crop protection products, field inspection, soil sampling, and minor equipment maintenance.
• Proven communication and customer service skills; ability to communicate clearly one-on-one and in small groups.
• Demonstrated math skills including rates, ratios, percent and basic graph interpretation.

Responsibilities

• Blend products according to recommended rates and procedures.
• Apply crop inputs to fields per rates and pesticide labels; record data per regulations.
• Maintain inventory and submit daily application records.
• Inspect fields by walking and sampling plants to detect weeds, pests, or disease.
• Record soil information and prepare samples for analysis.
• Set up and operate blending, storage, and application equipment; perform repairs as needed.
