Job summary

True North Consultants, Inc. is seeking an experienced Assistant Technical Applications Manager to lead applications engineering for industrial gas detection, automation, and control systems.

You will work with customers and internal teams through design, programming, testing, commissioning, and training. The role blends hands-on field leadership with engineering, product development, and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher in a related field.
• 10+ years in applications engineering, controls, or automation.
• Hands-on experience with field installations, startup, commissioning, and on-site support.
• Experience programming and troubleshooting PLC/SCADA systems (Allen-Bradley and/or IDEC).
• Strong knowledge of industrial communications (Modbus RTU/TCP).
• Familiarity with electrical systems, wiring, schematics, and instrumentation.

Responsibilities

• Serve as senior technical resource for gas detection, automation, and control system applications.
• Lead system design, control architecture, automation strategies, and system integration.
• Configure, program, troubleshoot, and support PLCs, HMIs, and industrial networks.
• Manage projects from concept through commissioning and training.
• Collaborate with sales, engineering, field service, and product teams.
• Develop technical proposals, documentation, and operating manuals.
• Perform product testing and troubleshooting to ensure reliability and performance.
• Provide on-site commissioning and customer support.
