What you'll do

As a Field Applications Engineer you will provide customer, production, and engineering support for Government and Commercial IP-centric SATCOM systems. Support will include the production, test, deployment, documentation, training, operation and debug of SATCOM hubs and remote terminals worldwide. Work with other Viasat personnel, including software, hardware and mechanical engineers as well as configuration management, production, test and technical publication's staff to deliver quality systems that keep our customers connected.

The day-to-day

Perform on-site installations, formal acceptance tests, marketing demonstrations, and training of SATCOM equipment. Develop and update training material, user manuals, procedures, and other related documentation. Provide integration and debug support of Viasat equipment into customer-premises equipment. Install, analyze, configure and solve a variety of RF and IP/Networking equipment issues associated with SATCOM hubs. Integrate SATCOM hubs, including initial system configuration, performance monitoring, analysis of statistical data, and resolution of sophisticated system problems. Collaborate with customers and other Viasat support staff in a highly professional and effective manner.

What you'll need

• 3+ years' experience with Viasat SATCOM products including our Ka networks, and the EBEM and LinkWay products
• Solid understanding of RF equipment, including up converters, down converters, spectrum analyzers, signal generators
• Demonstrated knowledge of IP equipment, including configuration, application and troubleshooting of routers, switches, IP networks, and servers
• Proven knowledge of RF Fundamentals
• Demonstrated Linux and Solaris OS experience
• Associates Degree in a technical discipline or equivalent work experience
• US government position. US citizenship required
• Active Secret Clearance or have held one within the last two years
• Ability to travel up to 50% domestic and international

Salary range

$93,000.00 - $147,000.00 / annually.For specific work locations within San Jose, the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, the base pay range for this role is $115,500.00- $173,500.00/ annually
