Position Overview
As a Senior MPU/DNPU Field Application Engineer, you’ll be one of the key players in the Customer Application Support team and part of a worldwide technical community providing premium technical support to NXP customers and their projects. You drive demand creation and design‑in activity at customer sites in close cooperation with the NXP business lines; you provide technical skills and support to NXP’s sales staff and will work with the NXP technical community about technical issues and future roadmap of your customer(s). We rely on you to deliver the NXP value message in a persuasive and accurate manner, in order to increase our market share. This role will be responsible to support our MPU products as well as our discrete AI accelerator (DNPU) products.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver premium technical support in content and time to assigned customers.
- Accountable to drive design wins in their target accounts and target technology.
- Lead proof of concept, solution design and demonstrations to secure NXP solution’s design‑in.
- Synthesise customer and competitive insights to improve product definition and roadmaps.
- Direct the NXP design‑in campaigns for assigned customers to ensure early involvement in the customer’s technology roadmap and timely flow of information to all necessary parties within NXP and the customer.
- Understand and communicate how ecosystem solutions can position NXP in the best possible manner.
- Qualify sales opportunities in terms of customer technical requirements and establish NXP’s value proposition/position relative to the competition.
- Qualify the value of NXP's products (strengths versus competitive products) and quantify the technical benefits derived from choosing NXP.
- Own the system software architect role to ensure a broader technical team understands the software value proposition for system proposals.
- Successfully build relationships with sales team members, business lines, partners and customers in support of sales team objectives.
- Analyze customer’s technical objectives through the use of relevant data gathering techniques enabling the sales team to be more predictive, effective and responsive to customer needs.
- Assist in educating Field Sales Engineers on new technologies, new product features and their related business value.
- Develop system level knowledge of target application spaces in automotive and industrial vertical markets.

Essential Requirements
- Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or equivalent. Minimum 5 years development engineering or application support of microprocessor based embedded systems.
- Minimum 5 years Field Application Engineering experience in the semiconductor industry.
- Experience with C and C++ and a record of developing embedded firmware.
- Demonstrated knowledge of typical SoC hardware interfaces (Ethernet, PCIe, MIPI, LP DDR5, USB2.0/3.0, and low speed I/O protocols).
- Knowledge of medical, industrial or IoT system applications.
- Knowledge of ARM Cortex‑A and Cortex‑M based architectures and register programming models and RTOS.
- Knowledge in embedded Linux is essential: kernel and user‑space and U‑Boot environments.
- Hands‑on knowledge of graphics and video subsystems and related software drivers helpful.
- Knowledge of edge AI applications deployment is beneficial; familiarity with TensorFlow Lite, ONNX, a plus.
- Ability to read, understand and review schematics and provide design recommendations required.
- Willing to travel up to 30% within the continental US.
- Experienced in providing technical training to sales staff and distributors.
- Proven track record of quickly learning new technologies.
- Develop system level understanding of target end‑applications.
Benefits
Salary range: $166,200 to $228,500 annually. Additional benefits include health, dental and vision insurance, 401(k), and paid leave.
