Job summary

Arrow Electronics in Connecticut is seeking a Field Applications Engineer (FAE) to support design-wins and customer engagements in the Rochester/Upstate NY market area from CT.

You will leverage engineering knowledge, CRM/BI tools, and supplier relationships to drive opportunities, respond to technical issues, and collaborate with sales to maximize revenue.

Qualifications

  • Typically requires a 4-year degree (electrical engineering strongly preferred) and a minimum of 5 years of related experience; or an advanced degree without experience.
  • Experience with system/board/engineering solutions and electronic components.
  • Independent worker with minimal guidance and strong collaboration with sales.

Responsibilities

  • Spend majority of time in front of customers to influence component selection.
  • Champion return on engineering investment and lead technical discussions.
  • Build relationships with suppliers and customers, communicating progress and plans.
  • Grow account base each quarter and drive demand creation via Arrow resources.
  • Identify solutions to customer design needs and monitor performance metrics.
  • Present technical seminars and workshops and support pre/post-sales activities.

We are looking for a Field Applications Engineer (FAE) who has the right mix of technical prowess and business savvy and can confidently identify, select, source, win and support new business opportunities.

Other qualifications include intermediate-to-advanced level experience using Excel and PowerPoint office tools, and can quickly become competent on CRM and Business Intelligence (BI) tools such as Oracle, Salesforce and Microsoft Power BI. This person should be a self-starter who can prioritize their activities to maximize Design Wins and Sales Revenue around the electronic component products and services they support. This person should be able to prioritize and be conscious of the value of the opportunities they are driving and provide appropriate levels of support and resources with an effort to maximize sales revenue and design wins.

The ideal candidate will be able to quickly respond and support our salespeople with their customer’s technical issues while also finding and driving new opportunities on their own. The ideal candidate should be able to quickly learn the company’s sales support systems to confidently search for new leads to pursue with or without the responsible account manager.

What You’ll Be Doing
  • Spending a majority of your time in front of customers to influence component selection.
  • Responsible for utilizing an advanced understanding of the customer needs and technical leadership expertise to champion return on engineering investment.
  • Manage supplier and customer expectations by building and developing relationships, keeping stakeholders up-to-date on activities, plans, and progressing towards initiatives. Identify key relationships amongst decision makers within suppliers and customers.
  • Growing your account base each quarter.
  • Drive demand creation by maximizing Arrow content on designs. Understand customer needs and leverage Arrow’s engineering and design services resources to facilitate solutions for customers. Apply technical knowledge to influence designs utilizing solution selling, resources, and strategies.
  • Identifying solutions and resolutions to customer design needs and issues
  • Monitoring your performance metrics throughout the quarter and taking corrective action as necessary to ensure you are on track to meet or exceed them
  • Presenting technical seminars and workshops around your supplier lines
  • Providing frequent updates to field sales team and being a motivating force around your supplier lines.
  • Partner with the sales team across pre-and post-sales activities, providing technical support and consulting to promote demand creation. Technical calibrations & research with sales & other Arrow depts. & Suppliers in support of the customer design. Champion return on engineering investment, design win priorities, initiatives, and promotions by obtaining buy-in and support from sales.
  • Attend and actively participate in strategic branch meetings and QBR. Develop and drive strategic technical plans by supplier line or customer solutions. Participate in ArrowEDGE initiatives through branch training and customer calls. Organize engineering customer events.
  • Meeting with suppliers to review recent customer design activity and identify compelling solutions to promote with those customers.
  • Attend supplier trainings in person and via conference calls.

Work Arrangement

Hybrid: 1 day in office/4 days work on the road or from home in the Rochester/Upstate NY market.

Annual Hiring Range/Hourly Rate

$91,900.00 - $165,165.00

Actual compensation offer to candidate may vary from posted hiring range based upon geographic location, work experience, education, and/or skill level. The pay ratio between base pay and target incentive (if applicable) will be finalized at offer.
