Job summary

Arrow Electronics is seeking a Field Applications Engineer to help customers select and design electronic components from Arrow’s line card. You will act as a trusted technical advisor, guiding designs and leveraging engineering resources to meet customer needs.

This role requires embedded and analog design experience, plus C programming and HDL/FPGA familiarity. Hybrid work with one day in-office and multiple field activities is expected, supported by comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering required.
  • 3–5 years of electronic design experience or 2+ years with an advanced degree.
  • Experience in analog and embedded design.
  • Experience in C programming and/or Embedded Linux is a plus.
  • FPGA design experience with HDL, simulation and verification is beneficial.

Responsibilities

  • Drive demand creation by leveraging Arrow content in designs.
  • Partner with sales for pre- and post-sales technical support.
  • Understand customer design requirements at system and component levels.
  • Prepare and deliver sales presentations to customers.
  • Manage opportunities and funnel for assigned suppliers.
  • Train sales teams on new products and marke them to customers.
  • Build relationships with customers and suppliers and keep stakeholders updated.

Field Applications Engineer

Job Description

As a Field Applications Engineer at Arrow Electronics, you will help our customers select and design electronic components and solutions from our extensive line card. Arrow FAEs are trusted advisors, providing technical expertise and guidance to ensure the success of our customers and suppliers.

What You'll Be Doing
  • Drive demand creation by maximizing Arrow content on designs. Develop an advanced understanding of the customer’s needs and leverage Arrow’s engineering and design services resources to identify & facilitate solutions for customers. Apply technical expertise to influence designs utilizing solution selling, resources, and strategies
  • Partner with the sales team across pre-and post-sales activities. Provide technical support and consulting to promote demand creation. Champion return on engineering investment and design win priorities and initiatives by obtaining buy-in and support from sales
  • Work with customers to develop a thorough understanding of their design requirements at the system and component levels
  • Prepare and give sales presentations to customers
  • Manage top opportunities and opportunity funnel for assigned suppliers
  • Attend supplier trainings in-person and via conference calls. Demonstrate an understanding of the strengths and weaknesses of supplier technologies and how those technologies relate to market needs
  • Train the local sales team on new products and help market them to the appropriate customers
  • Manage supplier and customer expectations by building and developing relationships and keeping stakeholders up to date on activities, plans, and progress towards initiatives. Deepen and broaden connections with key decision makers within customers and suppliers
  • Attend and actively participate in strategic branch meetings and quarterly business reviews. Develop and drive strategic technical plans using the supplier line or customer solution
  • Help plan and organize engineering customer events and seminars.
  • This job profile requires the assignment and participation in a sales compensation plan. A portion of On-Target Earnings will be variable and tied to specific sales-related goals as set forth by Arrow
  • Requires in-depth knowledge and experience in embedded design
  • Must be able to build strong relationships with customers and suppliers quickly
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Meets with customers both on-site and virtually

What We’re Looking For
  • Degree in Electrical Engineering
  • 3-5 years of electronic design experience with a bachelor’s degree in engineering; or 2+ years and an advanced degree; or equivalent work experience.
  • Analog and embedded design experience
  • Experience in C-programming and/or Embedded Linux is a plus
  • Experience designing with FPGAs (HDL, Simulation, Verification, etc), plus but not required
Work Arrangement

Hybrid: 1 day in office / 4 days in the field

Annual Hiring Range / Hourly Rate

$84,300.00 - $170,500.00

Actual compensation offer to candidate may vary from posted hiring range based upon geographic location, work experience, education, and/or skill level. The pay ratio between base pay and target incentive (if applicable) will be finalized at offer.

Remote work employees may be required to be present at the closest designated Arrow office for work-related purposes, at the Company’s request and sole discretion.
