Role Overview

The Field Applications Engineer is responsible for onsite evaluations related to performance issues involving Uponor or GFBFS-AM products. They will apply technical expertise in residential and light commercial building systems, working collaboratively within a focused team. The role involves analysis to determine root causes of customer issues, delivering excellent customer service during onsite investigations, and preparing reports for stakeholders. The engineer will manage multiple projects, propose remediation plans, and collaborate across departments including warranty, sales, training, and marketing.

This is a REMOTE position requiring up to 75% travel across the US and Canada.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Coordinate onsite examinations, providing protocols and sampling plans.
  2. Conduct detailed inspections and assessments of property and systems.
  3. Verify system design, layout, and condition during inspections.
  4. Support project resolution in residential and light commercial buildings.
  5. Interview property owners, tenants, contractors, and other stakeholders.
  6. Perform field testing and measurements to diagnose issues.
  7. Review documentation and ensure proper installation and maintenance of products.
  8. Document findings with photos and reports.
  9. Manage communication with stakeholders and provide proactive solutions.
  10. Collaborate with the Product Quality team for testing and assessments.
  11. Provide insights to support corrective actions and technical training.
  12. Manage investigation projects and advise management on legal risks.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or relevant technical field with 3+ years of experience, or 10+ years' experience in plumbing/mechanical systems.
  • Strong problem-solving, report writing, and communication skills.
  • Ability to interpret technical instructions, drawings, and codes.
  • Excellent project management and organizational skills.
  • Experience handling difficult customer situations.
  • Proficiency in MS Office, digital data collection, and field documentation.
  • Willingness to travel up to 75% and work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
Preferred Skills
  • Knowledge of plumbing and building codes (IBC, IPC, UPC, etc.).
  • Experience in MEP consulting, building engineering, or related fields.

Compensation range for US: $88,298 - $132,447/year, depending on experience and location.
