Job description

The Field Applications Engineer will provide field technical support for radar systems delivered to U.S. customers, with primary responsibility for maintenance, troubleshooting, and resolution of field issues.

The role will also support customer demonstrations and field tests, responding to technical issues that arise during operation, and provide technical support for customer engagements and business proposals as needed.

The ideal candidate should have hands‑on experience with radar systems and be capable of independently diagnosing field issues while coordinating with engineering teams for resolution.

Key Responsibilities

Product Installation and Field Operations Support

• Install AESA radar systems at customer sites in the United States and perform initial configuration, calibration, and commissioning.
• Support interfaces and system integration between the radar and C2/command systems.
• Support field testing and customer acceptance testing.
• Verify system operating status and confirm proper functionality.
• Provide customers with basic operation and maintenance training.

Field Support & Maintenance

• Provide on‑site technical support for radar systems deployed at customer locations.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot hardware, software, system, and interface‑related issues.
• Perform corrective maintenance, system recovery, configuration changes, and software/firmware updates as required.
• Analyze system logs, radar data, and operational conditions to identify root causes of field issues.
• Coordinate with engineering teams to resolve complex technical issues and implement corrective actions.
• Track recurring field issues and support continuous product improvement.

Demonstration & Field Test Support

• Support radar demonstrations, customer evaluations and field tests.
• Assist with system setup, configuration, operation, and basic performance verification.
• Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues that arise during demonstrations or field testing.
• Provide on‑site technical coordination between customers and engineering teams.

Customer & Business Support

• Respond to customer technical inquiries regarding radar operation and performance.
• Provide technical input for customer meetings, proposals, and business development activities.
• Support preparation of technical materials and responses to customer requirements.
• Communicate customer feedback and field requirements to internal engineering teams.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field.
• 10+ years of field engineering experience supporting radar systems, including operation, testing, maintenance or field support.
• Strong understanding of overall radar system operation and basic radar principles.
• Ability to understand and interpret radar outputs and performance data, including range, direction, velocity, detection, and tracking information.
• Experience troubleshooting integrated hardware/software systems.
• Basic understanding of network interfaces such as Ethernet, TCP/IP, and UDP.Ability to analyze technical logs, test results and system behavior to identify and resolve problems.
• Strong problem‑solving and customer communication skills.
• Ability to travel to customer sites and test locations within the United States.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience supporting AESA or phased‑array radar systems.
• Experience with C-UAS, air surveillance, or ground surveillance radar systems.
• Experience in radar field service, maintenance or customer technical support.
• Experience supporting radar demonstrations and field tests.
• Experience integrating radar systems with C2 or other external systems.
• Experience working in the defense or aerospace industry.
• Experience supporting U.S. defense customers or defense contractors.
