Job description

Location : Hickory, NC

Salary : $80,000 - $95,000

Bonus : 10% - 401k, phone and a starlink, 15 days PTO

About the position

As a Field Application Engineer, you will work closely with users and partners in both civilian and defense sectors. We are looking for a team player who can clearly explain technical solutions—and who enjoys doing so. You will bring insights and feedback from the field back to our development team and help shape the best solutions.

The position is part of our "Skunk Works" concept, where we work quickly and creatively on new ideas. You will be given exciting and challenging tasks, significant freedom to choose solutions and technologies, and the opportunity to develop your technical skills. At the same time, you will have the chance to improve your programming abilities.

If you are technical, hands‑on, and comfortable taking responsibility and representing us in a professional and engaging way, you might be the right fit for us.

Responsibilities
  • Support sales so customers gain the best possible understanding and experience of our products
  • Lead the technical setup of tests, demos, and training to ensure optimal performance
  • Act as the technical anchor supporting sales teams in the field
  • Develop and update materials for sales, demos, and training (course materials, application notes, white papers, etc.)
  • Test our defense and security products, preferably with a focus on customer usage patterns
  • Assist the support team with technical issues
  • Some national and international travel should be expected
We are looking for someone who has
  • Education or work experience in technical fields, preferably with hands‑on field experience in robotics or cybernetics (experience can compensate for lack of formal education)
  • 2-5 years of experience in a similar role, or from a position involving technical support/customer support, preferably with some level of software development
  • Ability to work systematically and structured, and manage multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Initiative, independence, and a solution-oriented mindset
  • Strong communication skills, able to explain technical topics in a simple and clear way to customers
  • Good understanding of customer challenges and the ability to communicate these to cross-functional engineering teams
  • Strong written and spoken skills in both Norwegian and English
  • Driver’s license (Class B)
We would like you to
  • Have domain knowledge in defense (not required, but experience with sensor use in the military is a strong advantage)
  • Be interested in drones and able to operate them
  • Be passionate about using your technical background to solve customer‑specific challenges
  • Thrive in situations where you must adapt to a wide range of customers at different levels
We offer
  • Competitive conditions
  • Flexible working hours with core hours from 09:00-15:00
  • Canteen with subsidized lunch
  • Good insurance schemes
  • Opportunities to participate in organized physical activities (e.g., paddle tennis, cage football, CrossFit)
