Job summary

OPTOFIDELITY is seeking a Field Application Engineer to support customer testing operations in the US. Based in Cupertino, CA, you will travel to customer sites to install, commission, service, and optimize testers, remotely or on-site, and collaborate with SW/HW teams.

The role demands strong technical understanding, customer focus, and clear communication under pressure; you will work independently and with a support team to implement improvements.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor/Master’s Degree in Mechatronics/Mechanics/Robotics/Electrical/Optics Engineering or equivalent.
  • 1–3 years of previous work experience.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

  • Install and commission new testing equipment at customer sites.
  • Perform preventive maintenance and repair solutions over the lifecycle of testers.
  • Troubleshoot hardware/software issues under time pressure.
  • Travel to customer sites (60–70%) and document resolutions.

Job description

Overview:

The Field Application Engineer is an integral part of our Customer Success (CS) activities inUS, supporting ourcustomers testing operations. In this position you will be based in Cupertino,CA, but traveling to customer sites is essential when needed. The work will revolve around installation and commissioning of new testing equipment as well as application of sustainable repair, preventive maintenance, and improvement solutions over the life cycle of the testers, both remotely and on-site at ourcustomers’facilities.


This role requires strong technical understanding, customerservingattitude, and ability to work under pressure. The Field Application Engineers are supported by a team of engineers and SW/HW designers, and to succeed in the role you needstrong communicationskills.


You are the person we are looking for if you prefer to work by learning new skills, solvingproblemsandwantto work with the latest technologies. You work independently, hands-on, and responsibly, and enjoy interacting with (internal and external) customers, and know whateffectiveteamwork is all about.


Requirements:


  • Bachelor/Master’s Degreein Mechatronics/Mechanics/Robotics/Electrical/Optics Engineering or equivalent

  • At least 1-3 years ofpreviouswork experience


Skills:


  • Basic understanding of mechatronics / robotics/optics

  • Ability to work hands-on with complex software/hardware systems and diagnose issues under time pressure

  • Able to read electric plans/drawings

  • Experience from servo drives/controllers and encoders and low-voltage circuits

  • Capability to learn to use different SW solutions/applications

  • Understand the requirements of working at the customer interface

  • Ability to work under pressure (R&D or production environment)

  • Systematic approach to troubleshooting and documenting resolutions

  • Desire to learn new skills and develop/improve ways to work

  • Readiness to travel in USand Asia, 60-70% travel might berequired

  • Flexibility in schedules

  • Strong communicationskills
