Job summary

Animal Friends of the Valleys (AFV) is seeking a dedicated Animal Control Officer to enforce local animal control laws across Canyon Lake, Lake Elsinore, Murrieta, Temecula, Wildomar and Menifee. You will capture, impound, and relocate animals, educate the public, and maintain thorough case records for administrative hearings and court proceedings.

Qualifications

• Two years of experience in the care and handling of animals and/or two years in some capacity of law enforcement.
• Certificate for euthanasia required or able to obtain.
• Possession of or ability to possess a POS T. 832 Certificate recommended; obtain within 4 months of employment.

Responsibilities

• Patrols designated service areas and responds to animal control calls.
• Captures and confines animals using approved procedures.
• Issues citations for animal control violations and testifies in court as directed.
• Maintains records and prepares incident reports.
• Assists with training of new animal control staff.
• Euthanizes severely injured animals in emergencies when necessary.
