Job summary

BCforward is seeking a Technical Assistant in Johnston, IA to support regulatory science research programs. You will perform tasks in laboratory and greenhouse settings under supervision, ensuring the quality and integrity of samples and data while assisting with routine processing and inventory activities.

The role includes seed lot inventory, preparation for characterization and distribution, and collaboration with greenhouse and field teams to collect samples and data as required.

Responsibilities

• Perform a wide range of tasks in laboratory and field or greenhouse settings under supervisor guidance.
• Ensure quality and integrity of samples and data and assist with day-to-day sample processing operations (sample receipt, lyophilization, grinding, weighing, distribution, inventory and retention).
• Support seed lot inventory, preparation for characterization and distribution (seed receipt, inventory, sub-sampling, cleaning, treating, packet printing, filling, scanning, devitalizing, grinding, shipping, sample retention).
• Assist greenhouse and field data and sample collection as needed.
