Job summary

The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, Department of Agriculture, seeks a Safety Inspector to help ensure amusement rides across the Commonwealth meet safety standards. You will travel to parks, fairs, and events, inspect installations, review documentation, and explain rules to operators and the public.

The role emphasizes on-site inspections, safety reviews, accident investigations, and collaboration with the Amusement Ride Safety Chief.

Qualifications

• Successful completion of the Safety Inspector Trainee program; or
• One year of experience inspecting buildings or structures for safety compliance; or
• An equivalent combination of experience and training.
• Must possess a valid Pennsylvania driver's license.
• Must obtain a Class 2 Pennsylvania Amusement Ride Inspector Certification within 30 days of employment.

Responsibilities

• On-site inspections of amusement rides and review of documentation.
• Perform safety reviews of ride installation, structure integrity, electrical systems and operation.
• Review forms, itineraries, insurance information and issue correction reports.
• Explain rules, regulations and procedures to industry staff and the public.
• Investigate accidents and prepare detailed reports.
• Assist with inspections of retail fireworks sites as needed.
