Job summary

Ameren Illinois seeks an AMI/AMR meter technician to service residential and commercial meters in central and southern Illinois. The role includes responding to alarms, performing meter exchanges, testing gas modules, and reconnections under the IBEW contract, with safety and customer focus at the forefront.

Required are a high school diploma, a valid driver’s license, and company training to obtain OQ certification; an associate degree in a technical field is preferred.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Must possess a valid driver license.
  • All candidates will be expected to pass company-sponsored training, including required gas training to become OQ certified.
  • Associate's degree in a technical discipline (e.g. Electrical Technology) or minimum 8 hours technical math coursework preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Respond to alarms, flags, alerts, and events from the AMI system and replace non-performing meters/modules.
  • Install AMI meters and gas modules when the deployment vendor cannot complete the task.
  • Perform routine electric and gas meter exchanges and AMI gas module exchanges.
  • Set and verify gas regulator pressure and check meter-set piping for leaks.
  • Execute electric and gas service disconnections and reconnections as necessary.
  • Respond to requests for electric/gas meter reads, including monthly reads for non-standard metering.
