Job summary

Cengage is seeking a Forward Deployed Engineer to embed with strategic institutional partners and architect AI-powered learning deployments. You will own production-grade code, design LMS integrations, and influence the product roadmap through field-driven insights.

You will lead end-to-end delivery of MindTap AI and related platforms, verify evaluation frameworks, and ensure compliance with FERPA and accessibility standards. Remote travel may be required.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of software engineering in customer-facing environments.
• 3+ years in a customer-embedded or field-facing role with deployments over demonstrations.
• Strong full-stack skills: Python, JS/TS, REST/GraphQL, modern frameworks.
• Hands-on experience with LLM-based apps and RAG pipelines.
• Familiarity with LMS integration standards (LTI 1.3/Advantage).
• Cloud proficiency (AWS) and data governance basics.

Responsibilities

• Embed with multiple institutional accounts to architect and ship AI deployments.
• Lead end-to-end delivery of MindTap AI, WebAssign, and custom GenAI integrations.
• Design institution-specific configurations and adaptive learning paths.
• Build and maintain AI workflows, evaluation frameworks, and data pipelines.
• Ensure FERPA compliance, WCAG 2.1 AA accessibility, and safety standards.
• Mentor engineers and contribute to product roadmaps.
