Field AI is building the future of autonomous robotics and seeks a Mapping Solution Engineer to own deployment, integration, and field performance of 3D mapping solutions. You will work with robotics, software, and operations teams to ensure successful customer deployments in large, unstructured environments.

The role combines robotics engineering, field delivery, and problem-solving, with hands-on work on 3D mapping systems, sensors, and real-world environments.

Qualifikationen

• Master’s degree or higher in Robotics, Computer Science, Electrical/Mechanical Engineering, Geomatics, or related field (or equivalent practical experience).
• 2+ years of experience in robotics software development, 3D mapping, systems integration, or field deployment of complex systems.
• Strong programming skills in C++ and Python with production‑quality software experience.
• Experience with 3D geometry, point cloud processing, ICP and NDT algorithms.
• Familiarity with point cloud libraries/tools such as PCL or Open3D.
• Experience with LiDAR systems and 3D data formats (PCD, PLY, E57, LAS).
• Familiarity with ROS, Git, and Linux/Ubuntu environments.
• Strong debugging and troubleshooting across software/hardware/networking.
• Excellent communication skills for technical/non-technical audiences.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities; willing to travel and work on-site.

Aufgaben

• Design, develop, and maintain production-grade software for 3D mapping applications.
• Deploy large-scale mapping systems and data pipelines in real-world environments.
• Validate mapping systems and algorithms with robots, sensors, and field tests.
• Build tooling, automation, and benchmarking infrastructure to improve reliability and performance.
• Troubleshoot and optimize mapping workflows across software, hardware, and data pipelines.
• Lead end-to-end delivery of mapping data products from capture to customer handoff.
• Support on-site and remote deployments; demonstrate, pilot, and evaluate solutions.
• Collaborate with internal teams and customers to identify issues and improvements.
• Develop scalable deployment processes and best practices for future rollouts.
• Translate field challenges into technical improvements and iterate accordingly.
