Job summary

Wabtec’s Independence, MO facility is seeking a general assembler to build fiberglass hatch covers and related products. You will follow engineering drawings, inspect workmanship, and maintain safety while using hand and pneumatic tools in a cave-like manufacturing environment.

The role emphasizes steady attendance, ability to lift 35 lbs, and the ability to work a full 7.5-hour shift with potential overtime in a Monday–Friday schedule.

Qualifications

• Ability to use common hand tools.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
• Ability to interpret and apply standards.
• Ability to stand for approximately 8 hours per day.
• Ability to lift a minimum of 35 lbs.
• Ability to work in a closed environment, specifically within a cave system.
• Ability to work on uneven surfaces.

Responsibilities

• Perform general assembly of products in accordance with product specifications/engineering drawings.
• Perform required inspections of product in accordance with Quality Procedures.
• Record applicable inspection/test results.
• Interpret inspection/test results to reflect job function requirements as necessary.
• Work safely and maintain a clean work area.
• Must be able to arrive on time, and work a full shift.
• Must be able to work a full work week.
• Build hatch cover structures using fiberglass, resins, and hard structural materials.
