Job summary

Joseph T. Ryerson & Son, Inc is seeking a Machine Operator to handle start-up, operation, and shutdown of fiber-tube laser equipment. You will set up materials, verify parts with measuring devices, and perform clean-up tasks including deburring.

The role involves reading blueprints, operating a crane or forklift to move materials, and updating work orders on the computer. Apprenticeship onboarding is part of the process.

Qualifications

• Pass a skills-based assessment evaluating reading, math, inspections & measurement, attention to detail, and problem-solving skills.
• Experience operating tube laser machines preferred.
• Able to draw and read blueprints.
• Forklift and crane experience is a plus.
• Must know how to use measuring equipment such as caliper.
• Successful candidates will be enrolled in a registered apprenticeship program as part of onboarding.

Responsibilities

• Set-up of material and tube laser operation.
• Check parts with basic measuring devices.
• Clean-up of parts (finishing, deburr, etc.).
• Update work orders and confirm on computer.
• Operate a crane or forklift to move material as needed.
• Carry/move supplies as needed.
• All other duties as assigned or may change at any time.
