Job summary

Hardy Industries is seeking skilled Fiber Testing and Splicing Technicians to support our national client base. You will perform OTDR, power meter, and light source testing, and conduct fusion or mechanical splicing as needed across varied environments.

Expectations include documenting results and working independently on multiple sites nationwide. The role emphasizes fault identification, fiber certification, connector remediation, and field professionalism.

Qualifications

• Fiber optic testing and troubleshooting experience required.
• Experience with OTDRs, power meters, light sources, fiber certification equipment, and visual fault locators.
• Understanding of single-mode and multi-mode fiber optic systems.
• Familiarity with structured cabling standards and best practices.
• Ability to read network diagrams, splice schematics, blueprints, and technical documentation.
• At least 1 year of Fiber, I.T., or Telecom experience, or 5+ years field experience.
• OR FOA/CFOT/BICSI/Network+ certifications or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Perform fiber optic splicing using fusion and mechanical splicing techniques.
• OTDR testing, power meter testing, light source testing, and fiber certification.
• Fiber continuity testing and fault-distance identification.
• Connector inspection, cleaning, and remediation.
• Patch-cord troubleshooting and fiber jumper replacement.
• Installation, termination, and testing of single-mode and multi-mode fiber cabling.
• Identification and troubleshooting of customer-premise and network-side impairments.
• Documentation of test results, splicing records, and project deliverables.
• Work independently across various environments including retail, medical, restaurant, corporate, telecommunications, and data center facilities.
