Job summary

Salient Global Technologies Corp seeks a Fiber Technician II in Dallas to handle cutting, terminating, inspecting, packaging and labeling of fiber optic cables.

Daily tasks include cabling and termination, indoor/outdoor fiber work, splicing, testing and troubleshooting, and completing paperwork on time.

Must pass pre-employment screening, maintain safety policies, attend trainings, and work both alone and with a team.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year experience with termination, testing or polishing of fiber optic cables.
• Valid Driver's License.
• Ability to pass pre-employment screening.
• Ability to use small and power tools.
• Climbing of stairs and ladders.
• Relationship building - work within a dynamic team and provide role model leadership.
• Strong communication skills, verbal and nonverbal.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a clean, neat, professional appearance and wear the company uniform.

• Terminate LC/SC/FC connectors for multi-mode and single-mode fiber.
• Install fan out kits including buffer tube.
• Terminate indoor/outdoor fiber, calculate end-to-end loss budgets per standards.
• Testing and Troubleshooting.
• Complete all paperwork accurately and on time.
• Adhere to Environmental, Health & Safety policies; attend trainings.

The Fiber Technician II is responsible for all aspects of Fiber including but not limited to Cutting, Terminating, Inspecting, Packaging and Labeling.

KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES/DAILY TASKS

• Maintain a clean, neat, professional appearance… Wearing the company uniform during all project related duties unless specifically directed otherwise by a superior.
• Cabling & Termination
• Copper termination skills
• Termination LC, CS, SC, FC,,,connectors, for both multi-mode& single-mode fiber
• Terminate simplex & duplex jumper cord
• Install fan out kits including buffer tube
• Terminate & breakout outside plant (loose tube) fiber (e.g. AFL/Corning/Commscope)
• Terminate & breakout outside plant (loose tube) fiber (e.g. Altos)
• Terminate indoor tight buffered multimode and single-mode fiber
• Calculate end to end loss budgets in accordance with TIA/EIA standards for multimode & single-mode fiber
• Testing and Troubleshooting
• Splicing
• Complete all paperwork accurately and on time specifically: material transfers, work orders, change orders, others as required.
• Understands, adheres to, and promotes the Environmental, Health & Safety policies of SGT Telecom.
• Attend classes and training sessions, as requested by SGT management, to obtain and maintain vendor certifications.
• Other duties as assigned by Manager.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

• Minimum of 1 years’ experience with terminate, test or polishing of fiber optical cables.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

• Ability to walk, stand, bend, lift up to 40 lbs., and drive a vehicle.
• Job is usually performed in indoor/outdoor environments under multiple environmental conditions.
• Exposure to noisy or dusty conditions; chemicals & solvents; mechanical, electrical, and/or other hazards.
• General hours of Monday through Friday 7:00am to 5:00pm. But ability to provide support during and outside regular business hours is required.
• Must be able to work in the United States.
