Job summary

Insight Global is seeking experienced Data Center Fiber Technicians to support all phases of fiber optic and network infrastructure deployment within hyperscale data centers. You will install, route, terminate, splice, test, document, and troubleshoot fiber systems on active construction sites.

Ideal candidates have background in structured cabling, telecommunications, and data center infrastructure, with willingness to travel nationwide for future projects.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Install and route fiber optic cabling throughout the data center.

Job description

Our client is seeking experienced Data Center Fiber Technicians to support all phases of fiber optic and network infrastructure deployment within a hyperscale data center environment. Technicians will be responsible for installing, routing, terminating, splicing, testing, documenting, and troubleshooting fiber optic systems while supporting overall data center construction and deployment activities. This role is ideal for candidates with backgrounds in fiber optics, structured cabling, telecommunications, data center infrastructure, rack-and-stack operations, and network hardware installation.

Responsibilities:

• Install, route, and secure fiber optic cabling throughout the data center environment
• Perform fiber termination, splicing, testing, and troubleshooting
• Conduct OTDR, power meter, and continuity testing
• Document cable routes, test results, and as-built project information
• Support rack-and-stack activities, including equipment installation and integration
• Install and dress structured cabling systems in accordance with project standards
• Read and interpret construction drawings, cable schedules, and network diagrams
• Identify and resolve fiber and connectivity issues during deployment
• Maintain quality, safety, and productivity standards on active construction sites
• Collaborate with project leadership and other trades to ensure successful project delivery

Required Qualifications:

• Experience in fiber optic installation, termination, testing, and troubleshooting (1 year min)
• Background in structured cabling, telecommunications, low-voltage systems, or data center infrastructure
• Experience installing, routing, and documenting fiber optic systems
• Ability to work extended schedules, including overtime and weekends
• Ability to travel and work on future project assignments nationwide
• Strong understanding of construction site safety practices

Preferred Qualifications:

• Previous hyperscale or enterprise data center experience
• Fiber splicing experience
• OTDR and fiber testing experience
• Rack-and-stack or network equipment installation experience
• Manufacturer certifications or industry certifications related to fiber optics or cabling
