Job summary

DFN in Eugene, OR is seeking a Fiber Splicer to fuse and splice fiber in multiple environments, including aerial and underground, with on-call duties.

You will work with engineering teams, perform OTDR testing, and ensure accurate reporting while maintaining safety and quality.

This role requires physical ability and a valid driver's license; DFN provides strong benefits and a supportive workplace.

Qualifications

• Minimum two years of fiber splicing or broadband technician experience.
• Must meet physical demands: lift up to 100 pounds intermittently.
• Clean driving record with a valid driver’s license.
• Ability to read engineering/construction documentation.
• Live within 30 minutes of service territory.
• Willing to work after hours as needed.

Responsibilities

• Fuse or splice SM or MM fibers in environments including aerial and underground.
• Assess current plant infrastructure and determine construction methods.
• Place main fiber cables into splice case and terminate fibers.
• Perform testing utilizing OTDRs and other equipment.
• Work with Engineering and OSP Leadership to perform splicing as directed.
• Provide accurate and detailed reports of splicing activity in a timely manner.
• Able to perform installations in residences and businesses following standards.
• Be on-call for emergencies and outages; direct field work when needed.
• Maintain a safe work environment and comply with codes and regulations.
