TriTechne is seeking a Fiber Splicer II to join our field operations. This mid-level technician will independently perform fusion splicing, testing, troubleshooting, and restoration of fiber in aerial and underground networks, with emphasis on safety and quality.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required; technical fiber training preferred.
  • 2-4 years of fiber splicing experience in telecom field environments.
  • Proficiency with fusion splicers (e.g., Fujikura, Sumitomo), OTDRs, and fiber testing equipment.

Job Description Summary:

The Fiber Splicer II is a mid-level field technician responsible for independently performing fusion splicing, testing, troubleshooting, and restoration of fiber optic cable in aerial and underground telecommunications networks. This role requires strong technical expertise, attention to detail, and the ability to respond to outages while maintaining safety and quality standards.

What You’ll Do
  • Perform independent fusion splicing of single-mode and multi-mode fiber in aerial and underground environments.

What You’ll Bring
  • High school diploma or GED required; technical fiber training preferred.

  • Strong understanding of fiber construction, testing, and documentation standards.

  • Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record; CDL preferred.

Preferred Qualifications
  • FOA Certified Fiber Optic Technician (CFOT) or equivalent certification.

  • Experience with FTTH, backbone, and ISP/OSP fiber projects.

  • Familiarity with GIS-based documentation systems and digital reporting tools.

Working Conditions
  • Field-based role with outdoor work in varying weather conditions.

  • Regional travel with occasional overnight stays.

  • Participation in an on-call rotation for emergency repairs and cutovers.

Physical Requirements
  • Ability to lift and transport equipment weighing up to 75 lbs.

  • Prolonged kneeling, crouching, and sitting in splice trailers or vaults.

  • Ability to work in confined spaces and elevated work areas.
