Job summary

TriTechne is seeking a mid-level Fiber Splicer II to perform fusion splicing and comprehensive fiber testing in aerial and underground networks across Missouri. You will interpret schematics, create splice documentation, and respond to outages while ensuring safety and quality standards.

The role requires 2–4 years in telecom fiber splicing, proficiency with Fujikura/Sumitomo splicers, OTDRs, and testing equipment, plus a valid driver's license. Regional travel and on-call rotations are expected.

Qualifications

  • 2–4 years of fiber splicing experience in telecommunications field environments.
  • Proficiency with fusion splicers, OTDRs, and fiber testing equipment.
  • Strong understanding of fiber construction, testing, and documentation standards.
  • Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record; CDL preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform independent fusion splicing of single-mode and multi-mode fiber in aerial and underground environments.
  • Conduct comprehensive fiber testing using OTDRs, power meters, and light sources.
  • Interpret fiber schematics, splicing plans, route diagrams, and color codes to ensure proper connectivity.
  • Create accurate splice documentation, as-builts, and test records per project requirements.
  • Troubleshoot and restore network outages efficiently to minimize service disruption.
  • Coordinate with construction, engineering, and network operations teams to meet project milestones.
  • Mentor Fiber Splicer I employees and support job site safety practices.
  • Maintain, calibrate, and safely operate splicing and testing equipment.
  • Participate in an on-call rotation to support emergency restorations and after-hours service needs.

Job Description Summary

The Fiber Splicer II is a mid-level field technician responsible for independently performing fusion splicing, testing, troubleshooting, and restoration of fiber optic cable in aerial and underground telecommunications networks. This role requires strong technical expertise, attention to detail, and the ability to respond to outages while maintaining safety and quality standards.

What You’ll Do

What You’ll Bring

  • Experience with FTTH, backbone, and ISP/OSP fiber projects.
  • Familiarity with GIS-based documentation systems and digital reporting tools.
Working Conditions
  • Field-based role with outdoor work in varying weather conditions.
  • Regional travel with occasional overnight stays.
  • Participation in an on-call rotation for emergency repairs and cutovers.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to lift and transport equipment weighing up to 75 lbs.
  • Prolonged kneeling, crouching, and sitting in splice trailers or vaults.
  • Ability to work in confined spaces and elevated work areas.
