• Knowledge of telecommunications network structures and safety protocols.

What you’ll do as a Fiber Splicer

• Perform cable upgrades and splicing tasks (aerial and underground) with guidance
• Test, activate, and troubleshoot network circuits post-installation
• Ensure splicing operations meet industry and customer standards
• Work safely at various heights, from underground to aerial locations
• Conduct basic daily vehicle maintenance, including fluid checks
• Document work through daily reports, maps, and material usage records
• Perform other duties as assigned

What you’ll need

• Be 18 years or older
• Authorization to work in the U.S.
• High School Diploma, GED, or relevant experience
• Valid State driver’s license (non-provisional) with a good driving record
• Pass a DOT physical exam and obtain a medical card
• At least three years of experience as a fiber splicer, including outside plant/system installations, working from blueprints and documentation
• Knowledge of telecommunications network structures

Additional qualifications

• Certified pole climber or demonstrate proficiency
• Knowledge of telecommunications infrastructure

Physical abilities & exposures

• Routinely: operate vehicles and heavy machinery, perform fine hand motions, work alone in remote locations, work at heights, bend, stoop, stand, walk, climb stairs, lift over 55 pounds
• Occasionally: work in confined spaces, use ladders and gaffs for pole climbing, keyboard and mouse operations
