Job summary

E-3 Technical Solutions is seeking a motivated Fiber Splicer / Field Operations Technician to join our nationwide team. This full-time role requires extensive travel to deploy and maintain fiber optic networks across the country.

The ideal candidate has hands-on experience with fiber splicing, testing, and troubleshooting, and can work independently in dynamic field environments. You will install, test, and document network components while adhering to safety and quality standards.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in a technical field preferred.
  • Field experience with fiber optic installation, splicing, and testing.
  • Familiar with OTDRs, power meters, and fusion splicers.
  • Strong problem-solving and attention to detail.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
  • Willingness to travel extensively (3–4 weeks at a time).

Responsibilities

  • Install, splice, and test single-mode and multi-mode fiber optic cables and connectors.
  • Perform OTDR, power meter, and light source testing for end-to-end validation.
  • Interpret fiber optic schematics, splice plans, and network diagrams.
  • Conduct troubleshooting and resolve field issues efficiently.
  • Complete preventative maintenance and report potential infrastructure issues.
  • Maintain thorough and accurate documentation of all work performed.
  • Collaborate with engineering, construction, and project teams to support deployments.
  • Manage and maintain inventory of fiber optic tools, test gear, and consumables.
  • Follow all safety protocols and adhere to company and industry quality standards.

Requirements

  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Effective communication skills (both verbal and written)
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Flexible schedule – must be able to work evenings, weekends, or on-call as needed
  • Comfortable with extensive nationwide travel (3–4 weeks at a time)
