Job summary

We are seeking a motivated Fiber Splicer / Field Operations Technician to join E-3 Technical Solutions. This full-time, travel-based role focuses on deployment and maintenance of fiber optic networks nationwide.

The ideal candidate brings hands-on experience with splicing, testing, and troubleshooting, and is comfortable working independently across varied field environments.

Qualifications

• Experience with fiber optic installation, splicing, and testing.
• Strong OTDR knowledge and testing proficiency.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
• Willingness to travel 3–4 weeks at a time and work evenings/weekends as needed.

Responsibilities

• Install, splice, and test single-mode and multi-mode fiber optic cables and connectors.
• Perform OTDR, power meter, and light source testing for end-to-end validation.
• Interpret fiber optic schematics, splice plans, and network diagrams.
• Conduct troubleshooting and resolve technical issues in the field.
• Complete preventative maintenance and report potential infrastructure issues.
• Maintain documentation of all work performed.
• Collaborate with engineering, construction, and project teams to support deployments.
• Manage and maintain inventory of fiber optic tools, test gear, and consumables.
• Follow safety protocols and quality standards.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in a technical field preferred
• Proven field experience with fiber optic installation, splicing, and testing
• Strong understanding of OTDRs, power meters, fusion splicers, and related equipment
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
• Effective communication skills (both verbal and written)
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
• Flexible schedule – must be able to work evenings, weekends, or on-call as needed
• Comfortable with extensive nationwide travel (3–4 weeks at a time)
