Job summary

NextGen | GTA: A Kelly Telecom Company seeks a skilled field technician to inspect jobs and oversee site restoration, ensuring work meets quality standards and contract requirements.

You will read utility maps and blueprints to locate underground utilities, operate electronic detection equipment, and mark facilities with precision, while coordinating with crews, subcontractors, safety, and field management to keep projects on schedule.

Qualifications

• Prior experience in Telecommunications or Utility Construction is preferred.
• Ability to read utility maps and blueprints to ensure work aligns with contract requirements.
• Must have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.

Responsibilities

• Inspect jobs and/or worksite restoration to ensure quality work meets standards and contract requirements.
• Read and interpret utility maps/prints to identify underground utilities.
• Operate electronic detection equipment to locate and mark underground facilities.
• Contact Subcontractor for follow up on jobs (Daily).
• Coordinate activities with crews, subcontractors, Safety, and field management.

Job description

• Inspect jobs and/or worksite restoration to ensure quality work performed by employees and subcontractors meets quality expectations, customer standards and contract requirements
• Read and interpret utility maps / prints to identify the type and size of underground utilities
• Operate different electronic detection equipment, to locate and mark under-ground facilities within prescribed accuracy limits
• Contact Subcontractor for follow up on jobs (Daily)
• Coordinate activities with crews, subcontractors, Safety, and field management
• Assist with resolution of customer/homeowner complaints

Who we are looking for:

• Currently have valid driver’s license
• Prior experience within the Telecommunications or Utility Construction/Maintenance industry (preferred)
• Prior experience with installation/repair/maintenance and the location of underground utilities (preferred)
• Able to read and interpret utility maps to determine the presence of underground utilities, as well as blueprints to ensure work performed is according to contract requirements
• Proficient with computer skills
• Strong written and oral communication skills required
